"21 Guns" by GreenDay

Finally! The American punk rock band GreenDay releases its 8th album "21st Century Breakdown" last May 15,2009  after their American Idiot album (2004).  The album was split into three acts; "Heroes and Cons", "Charlatans and Saints", and "Horseshoes and Handgrenades".  The first single "Know Your Enemy" was debuted on television and part of the song was used as the introductory music to the 2009 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Championship game. "21 Guns" was their second single that was aired on radio stations and was one of the featured soundtrack of the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
21 Guns

Do you know what's worth fighting for,
When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins.

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky,
You and I

When you're at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn't pass
Nothing's ever built to last
You're in ruins.

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky,
You and I

Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire?
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone

When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You're in ruins.

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky (x2)

you and I.

Irregular Menstrual Cycles Bring Higher Risk of Diabetes - Women Need to Eat Right and Exercise

Just thought of sharing this article from http://www.diagnosemefirst.com/ while I was researching about Tonsillitis. Although its not related to what I was searching but it really got my attention.

"Having an irregular or absent menstrual cycle is one of the dominant characteristics of polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal disorder that still is somewhat a mystery today and affects as many as one in 10 women. The condition is known to be associated with reduced fertility, but the evidence is mounting that it also increases a woman's risk of developing diabetes.

Now a newly published study offers the best evidence to date that menstrual cycle irregularity is directly linked to type 2 diabetes risk. Researchers at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Harvard School of Medicine followed more than 100,000 women participating in the Nurses Health Study II, the largest ongoing study of risk factors for chronic diseases in women.

Young women with cycles of more than 40 days or cycles that were too irregular to estimate were found to be twice as likely to develop diabetes as those with normal cycles. The increased risk was seen even when the researchers accounted for obesity, which is a common characteristic of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and a well-established risk factor for diabetes. The findings were reported Nov. 21 in The Journal of the American Medical Association.

"Women and their doctors need to be aware that irregular menstrual cycles could have broader ramifications than those that they normally think of," lead author Caren G. Solomon, MD, tells WebMD. "We know that women with PCOS have higher rates of diabetes ..., independent of their weight. We also know from other data that the majority of women with irregular cycles probably have PCOS."

The findings suggest that maintaining a healthy weight may be even more important for women who have been diagnosed with PCOS or have irregular cycles. Obesity, specifically excess weight around the abdomen, is a characteristic feature of PCOS. Having an 'apple shape' body type is also a specific risk factor for diabetes and heart disease.

A soon-to-be published national study suggests that those at high risk for diabetes can cut that risk in half by losing a modest amount of weight and exercising regularly as little as 30 minutes a day. Researchers found that moderate weight loss and exercise were twice as effective as taking medication at reducing risk.

"We know that no matter what your risk factors are, maintaining a healthy weight and exercising are key to reducing your risk of this disease," diabetes researcher Edward E. Horton, MD, tells WebMD. Horton, is director of clinical research at Boston's Joslin Diabetes Center and a professor at Harvard Medical School.

"No matter what your cycles are, we know that being overweight and being sedentary are risk factors for diabetes," Solomon adds. "But I think the important message here is that obesity clearly exacerbates the risk that is associated with an irregular cycle. Every woman should eat a healthy diet and get regular exercise, but this is group that may stand to benefit from that even more than others."

Tubod Flowing Waters, Minglanilla Cebu City

Celebrating sunday with my Bayo's family. A simple family get together intended for the kids. And being with them made my sunday a memorable one.

Tubod Flowing Water Resort is just less than an hour away from the city proper of Cebu. With four swimming pools the A, B, C and D as what they labeled it. It has slides for pools A and D.

The cottages are very much affordable, ranging from 250 pesos to 350 pesos. They have bigger cottages good for bigger family members or for company activities and rooms for those who like to stay over night or for several days.

Celebrating Independence Day!!

Today will be the 111th Philippines Independence Day. =)

The event was led by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo in his mansion on June 12, 1898. The flag of the Philippines, which was made in Hong Kong by Marcela Agoncillo, Lorenza Agoncillo and Delfina Herbosa de Natividad was first flown in that event. It is also where the Philippine National Anthem, composed by Julian Felipe, was first played by the San Francisco de Malabon band. The song was played under the name Marcha Filipina Magdalo, later renamed as Marcha Nacional Filipina.

The Official Flag of the Republic of the Philippines. The Philippines celebrated its Independence Day every July 4, the date in 1946 that the United States granted independence to the nation, until 1962, when President Diosdado Macapagal signed the Presidential Proclamation No. 28, changing the official celebration to June 12, the date in 1898 that Emilio Aguinaldo declared the nation's independence from Spain.

On June 12, 1998, the nation celebrated its centennial year of Independence from Spain. The celebrations were held simultaneously nationwide by then President Fidel V. Ramos and Filipino communities worldwide. A commission was established for the said event, the National Centennial Commission headed by former Vice President Salvador Laurel presided all events around the country. One of the major projects of the commission was the Expo Pilipino, a grand showcase of the Philippines' growth as a nation for the last 100 years, located in the Clark Special Economic Zone (formerly Clark Air Base) in Angeles City, Pampanga.
